Director General, NIPORT & Additional Secretary
Additional secretary to the government of the Peoples Republic of Bangladesh, Ms Rownaq Jahan joined as Director General of NIPORT on the 10th January, 2016. Prior to joining NIPORT, she worked as additional secretary in Economic Relation Division (ERD).
Ms Rownaq Jahan is a member of the BCS (Admin) Cadre, 1985 Batch. Since her joining in the service at 1988, she had worked as Assistant Secretary/ Senior Assistant secretary in Planning Division, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and Ministry of Education. Beside that in field administration, she worked as UNO at Narsingdi Sadar. Afterwards she was transferred to the Ministry of Hill Tract Affairs.
While she had been working as Senior Assistant Secretary in erstwhile Ministry of Establishment, she was promoted to the rank of Deputy Secretary in 2006. Subsequently she was posted in the Ministry of Economic Relation Division to work as deputy secretary of Asia and Joint Economic commission Wing. After that she worked as deputy secretary in the Ministry Shipping for two years and was again transferred to the ministry of Economic Relation division. While she had been working in ERD, she was promoted to the rank of Joint Secretary and Additional respectively and discharged duties in the Asian Development Wing and World Bank wing of ERD with reputation.
Beside Basic Foundation and departmental trainings, she successfully completed MATT (managing at the top) course at BPTC and Singapore Civil Service College, Private and Public Service Partnership (PPP) course at BPTC and Capstone Course at NDC. She studied at ISS in the Netherland for one year and earned a Diploma degree on Population and Development. Recently she participated in two short courses on Good Governance, International Dispute Settlement, Negotiation techniques environmental policy analysis at Duke University of USA and Potsdam University of Germany. She also visited many other countries of the world including Australia, England, Malaysia, China Vietnam, Nepal, Maldives, Singapore, France, Belgium, Luxemburg, Ireland, India, Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand, Cambodia etc. and participated in many training courses, seminars and workshops.
She passed her SSC from Rasulpur High school, Gaffar gaon and HSC from Eden College. Dhaka. She then earned Honours degree in English literature and MSS degree in Social Welfare from The University of Dhaka. She is happily married and blessed with two brilliant daughters.
